Where has the time went?

It's been a while since I've posted; however, most of my time is being spent at the hospital with Mom. It's terrible when a person has something wrong with them and the doctor's have no clue what to do. I know I'm frustrated so I know she has to be a hundred times more frustrated. Dad and I are taking turns spending nights so it's been lots of restless nights for all of us.

Anyway, I thought I would try and get something posted so you would know that I have not forgotten you.

Many of you remember how excited I was when I got my first grandson, Matthew. Well, he turned one on 9/24. This is the picture of him right after he picked up his birthday cake and smashed it on his face.

Isn't that just one adorable face! He's saying, "come on pick me up, I dare ya."

It's hard to believe that it was one year ago today that I was keeping the phone line hot waiting to see when my little grandson, Matthew, would be born and here he is one year old today. By the time you see this post we will be in Ashland KY seeing the little boy and our daughter, Kimberly. Time just flies. Hope to get a picture of him up here soon.

What a beautiful day

Although we had rain all day yesterday (I now know I need an umbrella to keep in the car) and a horrible storm blew through here in the evening, what a beautiful day it made for us today. This IS my favorite time of the year - not too hot and not too cold!

Tonight's card is using the technique from Technique Thursday on Stamping 411 - http://stamping411.blogspot.com - called Diamond Dust (the scanner doesn't show how sparkly it is, sorry). I love this technique but you come away with glitter all over the place (the cats are certainly sparkly!) Recipe: Stamp Sets: Paisley Prints from the Holiday Mini (Pg. 11), and Word Play from the Catalog (Pg. 147) -- both sets are available in clear mount or wood mount. Been down and out

Carl and I have been "out of commission" due to some bug that he and I just keep passing back and forth to each other. Haven't felt like stamping for a few days. However, I told myself I had to stamp something and get it up here or my faithful few would think I had "flown the coop" :-).

Today's card is very simple. I was looking at a Color Challenge someone had posted which used the colors Old Olive, Chocolate Chip and Pumpkin Pie which happen to be favorite colors of mine. I have been wanting to use the stamp set, Inspired By Nature, ever since I came across it when I was cleaning out my stamp room. Yes, I am one of "those people" who purchase a stamp set and then forget that I have it or put it away in a spot that is not a "stamp set spot" and then find it a year later! I also used Whisper White card stock, the top note Bigz Die, the square lattice textured embossing folder and a 3/16" corner punch. I know the card needs "bling" of some sort but my "bling-o-meter" is tapped.

Another Beautiful Weekend

What a beautiful weekend we had here in wild, wonder West Virginia. It was a crafting weekend for me - I spent Saturday with my Mom and my cousins working on little projects. My cousins are both quilters so each are working on quilts and Mom and I are working on rag purses that the squares are done using the Big Shot scallop square. Once ours are completed, I will put a picture of them on here.

On with the card. Today's card started out as something totally different, which is how most of them are. I had called my friend Kathy and asked her how to make the style of card I was going to do (so if she checks the blog out, surprise)!!!!!

The recipe for the card is: Stamp Set: Because I Care (Level 1 Hostess Set which you can achieve by having a $150 party - call me for details). Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Wild Wasabi, and Regal Rose. Ink: Regal Rose and Wild Wasabi Stampin' Write Markers. Accessories: Scallop Oval Punch, 2 x 1 3/8 Oval Punch, Finial Press Embossing Folder and Stampin Dimensionals.

Everything on here looks crooked, but I swear it isn't. Has to be the way I'm putting it in the scanner or I'm just a little lop-sided myself :-)

When I looked at the post from yesterday, I realized that it was only August and not September so we have FOUR months until Christmas to get our cards done.

Sorry I didn't get this posted until now - I forgot to do the card last night. For those that know me you already know that my middle name should be procrastinator (ha! ha!) Anyway, on with the card. Today's card is another quick and simple card to make. The main things that had to be done was the stamping of the card and the running of the cardstock through the Big Shot in the Northern Flurry Embossing Folder. I did cut the tree out and "pop it up" using a dimensional but this can be strictly optional on your part.

Recipe: Cardstock: Garden Green, Cherry Cobbler and Whisper White. Ink: Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler. Stamp Sets: Paisley Prints (Holiday Mini, #120817 wood mount, #121121 clear mount) and Word Play (Catalog, #120308 wood mount, #120651 clear mount). The answer is no! I just realized that Christmas is only three, yes count them, three months away. So I guess I need to start thinking of what my card will be this year and give you some ideas too.

The recipe for this card is: Stamp Set: Bells and Boughs from the Holiday Mini (#120831 (wood mount) or #121142 (clear mount), pg. 19). Paper: Always Artichoke, Crumb Cake, Riding Hood Red, and Whisper White. Ink: Black Stazon; Stampin' Write Markers: Always Artichoke, Riding Hood Red, Crumb Cake, and More Mustard. Accessories: Decorative Label Punch (#120907, Holiday Mini), Ticket Corner Punch (#119867, Catalog), Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, (#117335, Catalog) and Northern Flurry Embossing Folder (#120902, Holiday Mini), and Stampin' dimensionals. If you look closely you will notice that the background piece is "double embossed". I ran it through the Big Shot first in the Polka Dots Embossing Folder and then again in the Northern Flurry Embossing Folder.

Sorry for not posting yesterday.

This card was very simple. The card base is Early Espresso and the back ground layer is Marina Mist that I ran through the Big Shot in the Elegant Lines Embossing Folder (#119277). The stamped image is from the Friends Never Fade Stamp Set (#118750 - woodmount, #120618 - clearmount). It was stamped using Early Espresso ink on a piece of whisper white cardstock which was layered on to a piece of Greenhouse Gala Designer Paper (#117617) and Early Espresso cardstock.

Talk about a crazy weekend. It seemed like when my feet hit the floor Saturday morning they didn't stop! I only seemed to sit down long enough to finish the card that I'm posting. I CASEd it from Stamp Camp last month (so thank you Kathy Hamrick for the design).

It's A New Day

Hello, one and all. It was a beautiful day in West Virginia once again. I'm just loving the evenings as they start to cool down. It was a busy day for me but I was able to fit some stamping in. I used a new set that I just purchased (I wanted to get it last year and for some reason, I did not. So for that reason it was one of my first purchases this year!)

I took the design from the Stamping 411 blog site. I've mentioned before that if you're having trouble coming up with an idea, that's the place to go to just to get a pattern for a card. It really helps me out!

Relay of Life

Recently, I went to a fundraiser for the Marshville Relay for Life team and decided I would make a card for them to sell. This is what I came up with:

I used the Ribbon of Hope stamp and punched it out with the large oval punch - notice it fits perfectly. The cardstocks I used were Basic Black and Perfect Plum. I also used the Dotted Swiss Embossing Folder for the Perfect Plum background piece and ran it through the Big Shot.

I forgot to make a copy of the inside greeting. However, it was computer generated and was from a retired set. It said, "Hope is... believing in a brighter tomorrow."

This was a very quick and easy card.

Note: The reason I used Perfect Plum for the Ribbon of Hope is because the color lavender represents all forms of cancer.

Wow! What a beautiful day. It was so nice to look out and not see snow or rain and actually see the sun! We stayed in today but I worked on cards for the blog and Carl worked on his first-day cover collection as we watched the Olympics and, of course, the WVU Mountaineers ballgame. I just love this little guy. I just wish when squirrels visit my house they would bring me flowers instead of eating the food from the birdfeeders :)

Another Spring-themed card. When friends of mine saw this stamp set in the catalog, they said it was so me. Therefore, it was a definite purchase.

Well, things are settling down after Christmas and I have gotten my Christmas Thank You card designed and thought I would share it with you. I just love the stamp set, Lovely As A Tree (will be terribly upset if it is ever retired cause' I don't know how they could possibly replace it) and I also used Dasher. This was really quick and simple and had a bunch of them done, personalized and in the mail today.

The little man in my life

I know that I said I wouldn't post the picture of my grandson, Matthew, on the internet, but he has my heart won and you just need to see how cute this little character is. It is amazing to me how much he changes each time Carl and I get down to see him which is about every two to three weeks. Here we go, drum roll please:

We call this his, "I'm ready to take on the world" picture"!

He is 11 weeks today and is a whopping 12 lbs., 11 oz. I could go on and on but I'm sure you all get the idea that he certainly has lit up my world!

A Cardinal Christmas

Last weekend I went to a team event in York PA and we were to make SWAPs for the event. Following is what I came up with. Amazingly enough, Carl thought it was cute!

Hello, It's Me!

I've been quite reluctant in posting as you all well know. Hopefully that will change. I am now a stay-at-home person, which I think my husband is starting to enjoy immensely, so I am going to have more time to dedicate to the art of rubber stamping.

My life has been quite busy and then I ended up in the hospital (freak thing), became a grandmother (yeah!!!!), etc.... I would post his picture but I'm not confident in doing that so if you see me, I'm the doting grandmother and I have plenty of pictures!

Just haven't been able to come up with anything lately. I go into my stamp room and I look at my stamps and then I think what can I do with this. Well, tonight I picked up a card that I had gotten at Convention and voila' I got an idea. This card was super, super easy and you could do several of these in an evening.

Recipe: Stamp Sets: Dasher (one of our under $10 stamps) and Serene Snowflakes; Paper: Dusty Durango and Whisper White cardstock; Ink: Dusty Durango; Embellishments: Dusty Durango polka dot grosgrain ribbon and eyelet border punch.

Haven't been on here for a few days. Been busy making cards for the Jubilee that was held at Jackson's Mill over the weekend. Great event.

Way Too Early To Think About Christmas

I have been blog hopping and it seems like most of the ones I have went to have been putting Christmas cards or items on their sites so I figured I might as well gone the club. I guess you can call this my first attempt at a Christmas card.

This stamp set, Cold and Cuddly, is from the new Holiday mini. When I saw the set, I had to have it - not typically me. I just love this polar bear; however, the penquin and the walrus that are in the set are just as cute. The saying is from Heard from the Heart. The ink I used is Bashful Blue and Soft Suede. Cardstock is Whisper White, Bordering Blue and Soft Suede. The Designer Paper is some that I had left over from last year that is retired. I used the masking technique.

Circle Circus

Ok, Circle Circus, I'm addicted! I CASED this card from one of my roommates at convention. I just loved the colors and it was very simple to do.

It's Been A Hectic Day

What a day this has been - hectic, hectic, hectic. There was a "Back To School" party for the children of one of the developments that is a part of the company that I work for. Then there was choir practice at church. I came home and watched a movie with Carl.

I needed a quick and easy card to do since my time was limited this evening and this is what I came up with! I make cards for the shut-ins of my church and because this one did not take very long at all I'll be using it in the next couple of months!

Recipe: Embrace Life, Circle Circus and Branch Out (on the dormant list) stamp sets; Soft Suede (quickly becoming a favorite of mine), More Mustard and Whisper White cardstock; More Mustard, Old Olive, Really Rust and Basic Brown ink; Snail Adhesive and Stampin Dimensionals.

Circle Circus is a stamp set that is very versatile so you'll probably be seeing me use it more and more.

A Sketch Challenge

I needed a card for a male who has been in the hospital and is home recuperating. I've been seeing a lot of cards lately that use the stamp set, Autumn Harvest, so I decided to break mine out and am glad I did. I came across this sketch challenge while was looking at different Stampin' Up Demonstrators blog sites - a great way to get ideas. I especially like the sketch challenges because they give you a recipe and then you come up with the final product!

Recipe for this card: Autumn Harvest Stamp Set; Soft Suede, Crushed Curry, and Elegant Eggplant Cardstock; Dusty Durango Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon; watercolor paper; Autumn Traditions DSP; Watercolor crayons; Snail Adhesive.

Remember: a handmade card is a hug with a fold in the middle.

Invitation

This is the shell for an invitation that I'll be displaying. I'll be using it as a Bridal Shower invitation. I used Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White cardstock and Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper. I ran the white piece of cardstock through the Big Shot in the Elegant Bouquet Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I finished the invitation off by wrapping a "belly" band around the card and added a flower from the Pretties Kit that had the edges daubed with Elegant Eggplant.

Convention 2009

As most of you know, I was able to attend the Stampin' Up! convention that was held in Salt Lake City, Utah, August 6-8. It was an amazing experience and I came away with a lot of ideas that can be used in the Stampin' Up! business as well as everyday living.

I was unable to make any cards this evening so I decided to post some of my swaps that were at the top of list. There was so much "swapping" going on that it was amazing. Everywhere you turned there was someone asking, "Are you swapping?" I came away with a lot of ideas that I can use for cards.

So here I sit at 10:30 p.m. and I'm trying to come up with some ideas for wedding invitations, thank you notes, etc., and came up with this. It would work really well as a thank you note for wedding and bridal showers. It uses Chocolate Chip cardstock and Pretty in Pink and of course, I pulled a stamp set out that is retired but thought you might like it anyway. I also texturized it using the Big Shot and one of the Stampin Up embossing folders.

Convention WOW Swap

Can't believe it's been sooooooooooooo long since I've posted anything. So sorry to my followers.

I am getting ready to go to the Stampin' Up Convention and I am so excited. I signed up for a WOW Swap and in that Swap 100 other people signed up. Now mind you I did not have to make 100 cards if I could not get them done, I went ahead and bit the bullet - finally finished them about 2:00 a.m. this morning. I am now singing the Hallelujah Chorus.

The card I made used a Hostess Level 2 set, Asian Artistry, Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive cardstock, Cottage Wall DSP and Vintage Brads. I stamped the flower on tissue paper and did a technique called Faux Silk. The flower was stamped with Black Stazon and colored with Orchid Opulence and Yo Yo Yellow, then the centers are embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder just to give it some punch.

Tic Tac Baby Shower Favor

I needed to do a "quick and easy" baby shower favor and saw this idea on Splitcoaststampers. My mentor and friend, Kathy Hamrick has also done something like this so all of the credit is going to her :)

First off, let me apologize that it is crooked - I didn't get it in the scanner straight! This was done using the following cardstock: Pink Pirouette which is retiring but you could use Pretty in Pink and get the same affect, Whisper White and Certainly Celery.
Ink: Black Stazon, Pretty In Pink, Close to Cocoa and Barely Banana.
Stamp Set: Very Punny.
Round Scallop Punch, 1 1/4" Round Punch, Signo Gel Pen.

Cut cardstock at 2 3/4 x 4. Score at 1 3/4 from each end. Run the base through the Big Shot to texturize. Decorate as you wish. I put Glue Dots on one side of the Tic Tac container so that it would stay in place and I think I will also wrap ribbon around the favor just to give it a little extra "umph" and to help hold the Tic Tacs in place! Completed one in just under 15 minutes.

I purchased the Tic Tacs at Sam's for just under $10 for 24. I also stopped by Kroger's this evening and they had 8 for less that $3.

Hello, all! Woke up to some rain but now the sun is out and shining bright. It's going to be a wonderful day. Just a quick update on my Grandmother: she is still with us - they are keeping her comfortable. She's a fighter so she could still be with us next year.

I thought I would show you the card that I made for my brothers' birthday. He loves to camp, so I thought it would be perfect for him. The card was made using Under the Stars (which is just adorable especially if you're a camper) and On Your Birthday.

Prayers are needed

My Grandma Yeager, my mother's mother, has been in a nursing home for eight years. Her kidneys are starting to fail and it has been decided to take her off her medicine and let time take it's course. Grandma has lead a rich life (95 years) and up until she went into the nursing home was very aware of all things around her. But God has plans for us that we cannot question why, so when a person has Alzheimer's we just have to know that only God knows what is best. At least Grandma has been able to communicate with us for the most part. Please keep the Hazel Yeager family in your prayers (especially her children - Charles, Blaine, Shelba, Jimmy and Marlene). I pray for the day when she opens her eyes and sees her heavenly mansion and is able to walk the streets of gold singing sweet hallelujahs with the angels.

Frazier - My lap cat. Frazier is the timid one. If he doesn't know you, you are not apt to see him but be at our house for a while and he'll come around. I also call Frazier, Mr. Drool - when he's happy, he drools! We got Frazier from the Upshur County Humane Society about 10 years ago and Frazier was almost full grown then. I am going to venture to say he is 12 - 13 years old.

Whiskers - Also know as Sir Whiskers Purrs-alot. No matter where you are, Whiskers is in the middle of it. My Mom says he reminds her a lot of me - he has personality. We got Whiskers when he was a baby, he is almost 4 now.

Stray - The Queen of the household and does she ever know it. Stray came to us about three years ago and has just settled herself in. Frazier and Whiskers have a time with her sometime, but that is just a girl showing boys that she is better than they are!!!!

Well, since I am new to this blogging I did not give you a picture a look at. This is the card that I made for the females. I love all of these colors together - chocolate chip, kraft and baja breeze (I'm really going to hate for that one to go!) The Parisian Breeze paper is my favorite.
